self-discovery and personal growth
All creation begins somewhere. The most beautiful and enduring stories often stem from real-life struggle and experience. Each page filled with moments that touch our hearts and pierce our soul. We encounter countless lives during our brief time on this Earth. Some cross our paths to teach valuable lessons, others become our path.
The human spiritual journey is a long and winding road. It's hard to be true to oneself when you have no idea who you truly are. Often times, we don't like the reflection looking back at us in the mirror. Life's hardest feat is positive change. Denying shitty behavior, making excuses and remaining stuck is easier. When we've been accustomed to a certain way of living, breaking free from negative cycles is challenging.
Change is inherently scary, but with time, we learn to adapt and adjust. Subconsciously, we begin to shift our perspectives. As we do this, we give our mind the proper nutrients and vitamins it needs to grow and flourish. With a fresh new mindset, one becomes unbreakable in their morals, virtues and beliefs.
Just as a plant needs rich soil to blossom, we too, need a solid foundation in our mental building blocks. Fertile ground from which our internal soil can bloom. The blueprint in this substructure must be genuine, truthful and sincere. If constructed correctly the finished project is invaluable.

Humans and plants share many similarities. Each species exists within its own kingdom, broken down into groups, categorized according to class. Both require the correct amount of space, fresh air and light. All responsive to encouragement and nurturing.
When an individual suffers physical, emotional, or mental harm, a “subconscious seed,” is planted within. This noxious seedling can flourish rapidly. As the branches to multiply. Each branch signifying a negative thought. When combined the plant becomes top heavy and overpowered. The surrounding plants in the kingdom begin to exhibit signs of distress. Advancement is stunted. Shock sets in, due to the unhealthy environment.
A newly planted seed can germinate within 7 to 14 days. Whether it takes root or not, depends on the conditions within the environment. When the quality of life is poor, results are expected to be unfavorable. Most of the time this proves to be true, yet, there are exceptions.
I myself have been fooled by this act of nature. I once planted a seed that died within hours of sprouting. I threw the pot into a dark space in my garage for two weeks. Truth is, I had forgotten about it. One day I was cleaning up and grabbed the pot so I could dispose of the soil. As I walked into the light I couldn't believe my eyes. The seedling was alive. Despite lack of water and sunshine, it survived. I was astounded at the resilience it portrayed. Once I placed the roots into the ground the plant flourished.
Despite initial damage, both plants and individuals' posses the ability to recover and thrive. With time, support, and the proper mental 'nutrients,’ repair and rejuvenation will occur. Transforming the broken ‘limbs,’ into resilience. Cultivating positive experiences and connections. As you tend and care for these wounds, weeping is replaced by endurance. This cycle of healing brings forth an unimaginable strength. It is now time to plant a new seed, full of knowledge and enrichment.
A plant in its pre-flowering stage is poised between dormancy and blossoming. This scenario reflects the delicate balance of the human body and mind. One, rooted in earth. The other, grounded, both, forged in the crucible of the sun. A crucial ingredient for their growth and survival.
Single roots works harmoniously within a network of smaller roots, create a functioning system. Together, they draw nutrients and water from the soil. These elements are then transported through the plant's vascular system. This process ensures that each part of the plant receives the necessary sustenance required to thrive. In this system, diversity and inclusivity are welcomed. Uniqueness is valued. Individuals are encouraged to share their perspectives and talents to contribute to the surrounding ecosystem.
When a dominant root takes over, it can overshadow and suppress the smaller roots. These roots, once united, begin to separate. They become stunted and overworked, triggering stress and anxiety. Eventually, the energy is depleted leaving the system stuck in a state of passive consumption. Whats left of the weakened system becomes a breeding ground for pests and disease. As a result, resources needed for survival become unobtainable. Thus, leading to decay, mirroring human society, health and behaviors.
Re-train your brain! Consciously choose to fertilize your mental garden. When we learn to embrace free thinking, as well as one another, we form a renewed root system. By cultivating integrity we build a more resilient society. Embracing empathy and understanding allows us to connect and unite. Compassion ceases selfishness and opens the door to hope, closing the gate on hate. A community built on acceptance and love will produce branches that flourish. In which its diversity is as vibrant as the roots that sustain the mightiest of trees.
The blossoming of a plant beautifully reflects the cycle of renewal. During this phase, inherent potential reveals its form and purpose. The transition from bud to bloom is a testament to the power of nature's resilience. It is a slow, painstaking process, requiring time and dedication.
A flower bud stays tightly wrapped in its protective sheath, shielding off the outside elements. As it grows, the branches beneath strengthen to provide support for transformation. This ensures that when the time comes, the bud can bloom with confidence. Encouraging perseverance and the gradual shedding of protective layers. When the flower opens its vibrant petals remind us of the beauty that lies within.
In the land of Homo sapiens, we exhibit similar behaviors. We re-energize and find balance, seeking our place in the world, searching for others who share the same vibration and frequency. Both the plant and human kingdoms thrive when surrounded by those alike. These connections become lifelong support systems.
Our hardships don't define us; the journey does. Each choice we make along the way serves a purpose. We possess the capacity to transform, adapt, and thrive, regardless of the challenges we face. Understanding this process allows both humanity and nature to reach heights once deemed unattainable. Just as a flower offers its nectar openly, those who've struggled can use their experiences to rejuvenate others. Even plants produce their best blooms in the dark.
In the vast garden of Eden, each of us is like a plant. All unique, some simple, others unruly and complex. These seeds are intentionally sowed; hand nurtured with wisdom, compassion, and purpose. As these saplings blossom, fruits of understanding and gratitude are scattered. The threads of life are methodically pruned, from the crown to the root. Each twist and turn gradually reveals the architecture of one's own spirit. Ultimately, leading to the adhesive one needs to become whole.
Carl Gustav Jung
The act of harvesting a plant signifies more than just the end of its lifecycle; it’s the common interconnectedness of all living things. A whispered reminder that both growth and fulfillment come from the same roots of perseverance. Hard work, patience, and dedication reinforce renewal. These productive moments represent maturation. Each harvest nurtures the soil of the future. Every small effort contributes to a larger purpose. The rewards are not in the yield, but in the learning experienced along the way. Your next harvest is just around the corner! May your reaping be fruitful and abundant!
Seasonal depression, also known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), is a type of depression that occurs at certain times of the year. Thus, earning the nickname "winter blues." This SAD situation can significantly impact an individual's daily life. Understanding what SAD is, and learning how to manage it can help those affected lead a healthier and more balanced life.
While the exact cause of SAD is not fully understood, it is believed to be related to the reduced exposure to sunlight. The condition reaches its peak during the months of December, January, and February. Shorter days disrupt the body's internal clock (circadian rhythm) leading to changes in mood-regulating chemicals in the brain. Some individuals may experience a form of SAD that occurs during the spring and summer.
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a significant mental health issue that affects millions of people worldwide. According to the American Psychiatric Association, approximately 5% of adults in the United States experience SAD, with symptoms lasting around 40% of the year1. However, it is important to note that many cases of SAD remain undiagnosed, with estimates suggesting that up to 10% of the population may suffer from this condition2. Continued research and awareness are essential in addressing the challenges posed by SAD and ensuring that individuals receive the support they need.

A healthy relationship is all about mutual respect, open communication, and trust. It's like finding that perfect pizza topping combination that just works. Both partners should feel safe to express their thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment. Respecting opinions and defining boundaries are the sauce and pepperoni of importance. Honesty and transparency are the cheesy goodness that holds it all together. Celebrate victories, don't marinate in losses and catch your partner when they fall. You can't push open a door that says pull.
Unfortunately, not all relationships are rainbows and unicorns. Toxic traits sneak in like uninvited guests at a party. One red flag is someone else’s problem. The moment you spot it, you got it! Don't pretend it away. If your partner is a fault finder, help them find the door. If they're into belittlement, remind them how small they truly are. Simply walk away. Actions speak louder than words because silence speaks volumes. Another big red truck is control. If they monitor your every move, send them back to grade school where they belong. Trust issues, like jealousy and suspicion, are a turn off. This type of emotional manipulation is suffocating. Once the gaslight is lit, the game begins. You start doubting your reality. Life becomes a never-ending rollercoaster of hell.
To keep your relationship in the "safe" zone, practice empathy and understanding. Open communication can bridge gaps of misunderstanding. Value being heard. Remember, self-love and self-respect are the secret ingredient to an old fashion recipe. A dash of humor never hurts either! When both people are secure, they bring their best selves to the table. Reserving a seat for a lifetime of memorable meals.
The last time a human being stood up to make a significant change in this world was 1964. The Civil Rights Act is a perfect example of positive strides and unity. This time period ended the war on segregation. In fact, it was a once in a lifetime, blue checkmark for history. Fast forward to 2025, the act of right and civil are diminishing. The movement that once brought peace has been diluted with animosity. Focus has shifted from human advancement to training artificial intelligence to become human. We are slowly destroying ourselves, just as the Bible foretells. It's time to call Dr. Emmett Brown, we're going to need extra amps in the flux capacitor for this trip back to the future.
Hate is an addiction that feeds off our fears and insecurities. Just like any other addiction, it starts small and quickly spirals out of control. The euphoric feeling of power dominates our thoughts and actions. The more we indulge, the harder it becomes to break free. Of all addictions this is the ultimate destroyer. The only thing that travels faster than the speed of light is darkness. We serve the devil his daily meal of negativity, self-righteousness, and self-pity expecting our portion to stay warm. Instead, our barters become frozen assets that yield no return. The antidote for this sickness is simple, yet, seemingly universally impossible, love.
In the face of adversity, as we confront the mirage of narcissism that seeks to cloud our vision. We must anchor ourselves in a profound respect for one another. It is in this space of love and respect that we find our true power. A power that is not assertive, but gently persuasive, guiding us to stand in our truth and radiate our essence unapologetically. How is lifting one another up wrong? How is standing for what’s right insignificant?
Let’s not let the legacy of those who fought for justice fade away. It's time to make our own significant changes and begin to love all of those who blindly hate.
First things first, let's define this beast. Commitment is like a relationship with your favorite pair of sweatpants. It can be comfortable, reliable, and always there when you need them. It's about sticking with something (or someone) through thick and thin, rain or shine. No matter what! Bad hair day? Half painted eyebrows? No makeup? It doesn't matter. Commitment means showing up and giving your all, even when you'd rather binge-watch Netflix, alone.
Now, let's talk about how to stay committed without throwing in the towel at the first sign of trouble. Imagine you're climbing a mountain. The view at the top is breathtaking, but the journey is full of steep inclines. The slopes are slippery little suckers, and the occasional metaphorical mountain goat tries to knock you off course. Here are some tips to keep your feet moving.
So, to commit or quit? The choice is yours. Let us be reminded of a man dressed in sequined, baggy, pants who once said, "too legit to quit." Please allow me to hammer out the details. If you have a good thing, keep it going. Let's face it, commitment can be hilarious. Like the time I committed to a "no sugar" diet, only to find myself negotiating with a box of Hostess at midnight. Or, the other 50 times I convinced myself substituting Sunkist for O.J. was feasible because they are both orange. Don't even get me started on my irrational justification for all clear liquids. If I can see through it, there are no calories, said no Vodka or Tequila ever.
Embrace the humor, because laughter makes the journey a lot more enjoyable.
Stick around, and let's explore the wonderful world of commitment together. Remember, it's not just about the destination; it's about enjoying the ride! Let's face it, most of us aren't cruising around in a Ferrari.
Don’t be afraid to call yourself on your own bullshit. If you have something to say, speak it, regardless of your surroundings. Who cares if the neighbors think you’re crazy! If they catch you talking to yourself, sneak in a slight hand wave and give them the ol’ Wilson Heidi Ho. If this method helps you rationalize and deal with self-sabotage, then embrace the cuckoo in your clock!
Find your higher power. If you don’t believe in this sort of thing, then pretend away! Just make sure that it’s a positive influence in your life. Pray, believe, have faith, repeat! Make it a daily routine.
Take the time to fix what’s broken. Now is not the time to shop for replacement parts! Sure, it’s nice to focus on getting under a new hood, but look where bending over has always gotten you. Disconnect and reconnect. Put down the phone, turn off the television, and temporarily cease all human interaction. Nobody can fix you, but you. When in doubt, see #2.
Let go of control and let the work do you! Find your happy place! Focus on changing your mind-set, not your outfit. The greatest achievements are made when we forget about success.
Self-examination begins with setting aside quiet time for introspection. This involves creating a space free of distractions where one can reflect deeply on their thoughts, feelings, and actions. It requires the courage to ask oneself challenging questions, such as "What are my true motivations?" "How do my actions affect others?" and "In what ways am I avoiding responsibility for my actions?" Keeping a journal can be an invaluable tool in this process, allowing individuals to document their reflections and observe patterns in their behavior over time. Meditation and mindfulness exercises also aid in cultivating an awareness of one’s thoughts and feelings, making it easier to identify areas that need attention and change.
Accepting accountability for every error is a critical step in personal growth, yet it is often the most difficult. It requires acknowledging mistakes without self-judgment, understanding the impact of one's actions on others, and taking tangible steps to make amends. This might involve apologizing to those hurt by one's actions, seeking feedback to understand the full extent of the mistake, and formulating a clear plan for how to avoid similar errors in the future. Importantly, this process also involves forgiving oneself, recognizing that making mistakes is a part of being human, and that what matters most is the commitment to learning and improving.
Through this dual process of self-examination and accepting accountability, individuals can develop a deeper sense of integrity, empathy, and resilience, paving the way for lasting personal transformation.
